A Milton Keynes Plus BusIn 2006 Milton Keynes Community Transport Ltd. (MKCT), a new charitable company formed by Age Concern Milton Keynes and Ealing Community Transport, replaced the existing Fastchair and MK Special services which had, until June 2006, provided a door-to-door bus service for disabled people and older people who live in Milton Keynes
MKCT's first task was to provide the MK PlusBus service, which is funded by Milton Keynes Council.

We are a group of disabled PlusBus customers whose lives have been adversely affected by the change to PlusBus. We are unable to use public transport and therefore totally dependant on PlusBus. PlusBus are carrying lots of passengers but these are "walk on" passengers. Our wheelchairs take up a lot of space and take time to load and unload. We believe that PlusBus are favouring the "walk on" passengers in order to keep their numbers up but it's at the expense of their most disabled customers, the very people who need the service the most.

Why We Need The PlusBus

Large wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs, and scooters need to use a rear ramp to get on to the vehicle. Once in place they are strapped down. They are too big for an ordinary car and they can't use a "London" style Taxi because they are to big to turn inside the Taxi and therefore can't be strapped down. They have to have a vehicle with a rear ramp.
