“We are delighted to be able to offer residents in Milton Keynes an improved community transport service. Residents can be confident that with the partnership between ECT and Age Concern Milton Keynes, they will have a high quality, reliable, community transport service, which helps them get out and about to the shops, for appointments, to attend a club, or just to enjoy a day out”. MK PlusBus customer AudreyAudrey, Bletchley

Audrey enjoys visiting Milton Keynes Theatre but as the theatre has limited wheelchair space she has to book well in advance. She is now prevented from booking any further theatre trips because she can't rely on a PlusBus for her transport. Audrey says "there is now very little evening transport and none on Saturday and Sunday. I can't book any theatre trips because I don't know if I will be able to get there and get home".

RosemaryRosemary, Bradwell

Rosemary would like to go out more often but she can't get a PlusBus at a time to suit her. Rosemary would like to go out to play Bingo but when she phones she is told "no, sorry, can't do it".

  MK PlusBus customer TimTim

"I am not getting out as much as I used to because of the poor service. I used to like to go to Bingo on Saturday evenings and sometimes to concerts on Sunday evenings. I can't go now because of the lack of transport."

MK PlusBus customer YvonneYvonne, Newport Pagnell

"The service has deteriorated so much that my social life has suffered. I can't get out without the community bus service. The service used to take me where I wanted to go at a time that suited me. Now I am told by PlusBus when and where I can go"

  MK PlusBus customer MarieMarie, Heelands

Marie is totally dependent on PlusBus for her regular weekly trip to the City Centre. This is the only time that Marie gets out of her flat. The rest of the week she is housebound. Marie had been leaving at 10.00am and returning at 2.00pm. A few weeks after PlusBus took over Marie was told by the driver "do you know we have changed the time of this bus, you will now be picked up at noon, this week and every week".

When asked for her views on PlusBus Marie replied "I am not allowed to use that kind of language!"

Rose using the PlusBus during the day

Rose, Emerson Valley

Rose also enjoys a trip to the local theatre. When Rose phoned PlusBus to enquire about an evening out at the theatre or cinema she was told by a PlusBus employee to "go out during the day!"

Rose has written a letter of complaint, click here to read it.

Margaret, Heelands

Margaret is 82 years old and because of health problems has been happily using the local community transport for some time. Margaret had a regular trip to the City Centre every Tuesday, leaving at 10.00am and returning at 2.00pm. Margaret used this time to do her shopping etc. and sometimes to meet up with friends. Shortly after PlusBus took over Margaret arranged to meet a friend for lunch at the City at 12 noon. Margaret caught the bus as usual but was told by the driver "you are coming home at 12". Margaret was left with the choice of missing her lunch date or finding her own way home.

In August Margaret was told by PlusBus that she would have to use the Wednesday service and go to Kingston, not the City Centre. Margaret wrote to PlusBus and explained as her late husband had Altzheimers Disease she visits the Altzheimers Society every Wednesday and besides that, she doesn't want to go to Kingston, she wants to shop at the City Centre. Three weeks later she still hasn't received a reply.
